About
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2007 at age 30. Currently, I control my diabetes with injections of Lantus and Humalog. I monitor my blood sugar with a DexCom SEVEN CGMS and a FreeStyle glucometer. I started this blog because, despite the numerous challenges, pains, and frustrations that being diabetic has given me, there are also many ways in which I feel it has made my life better, and made me a better person, which is a side of diabetes not commonly discussed. Diabetes is a daily struggle, and most of us often don’t have the opportunity to reflect on the some of possible positive aspects of our condition. This blog attempts to highlight those, while also featuring articles on research/products/practices that can make our lives as diabetic better. It also recounts some of my experiences with some of the rituals of diabetes, such as testing, injections, etc, in the hopes that this will make them less daunting to people recently diagnosed, and give readers a place to share their own advice and experiences.
